Elementals are grouped into four main categories:
● Earth: gnomes, dwarfs, elves, leprechauns, brownies and hobgoblins.
● Air: sylphs, fairies and angels.
● Fire: jins and genies.
● Water: nymphs, undines, mermaids, mermen, tritons, sirens, harpies and salamanders.
Another word that has been used - usually in medieval witchcraft - for Elemental is "familiar." This term is ambiguous, as it may also refer to an animal companion or household pet, such as a dog or cat.
Elementals usually are visible only to those with clairvoyant sight. They most usually are seen at night in the country or mountains, far from cities.
To the ancients, Elementals were the physical explanation of the universe. Contemporary occultists often acknowledge them only a symbols or forces, but not "real" at all.
